enogastronomic adventures 2010
mission: exploring the less traveled crossroads of landscape, food, wine, and people.

Spring/Puglia: The Southern heel of Italy’s boot.  The gateway to the Orient. Sea urchins and octopus.  Cooking classes.  Olive groves.  The grapes of Troy.  Butcher shops-cum-restaurants.  Salt flats.  Wild gathering.  The lure of the exotic: the dust and the Baroque.

Dates: April 9-19, 2010
Includes: Three cooking classes with local cooks, three vineyard visits, two organic and sustainable accomodations, all meals, transportation, daily excursions to fish markets, cheesemakers, mushroom growers, olive oil producers, working gardens, ancient salt flats, wild gathering.

Sample Days:
Day Four
Breakfast at inn
Provisioning for ingredients at local market, and visit to
local cheesemaker. 
Return to inn.  Cooking Class with local cook. Preparing lunch together at hotel.
Lunch
Drive to Azienda Agricola Santa Lucia, Corato for  
cantina/vineyard tour and tasting. 
Dinner at La Bottega dell’Allegria, Corato.
Return to inn.  Sleep!

Day Six
Breakfast at inn.
Wild gathering walk on property.
Cooking class with house cooks/Caleb translating.
Lunch at inn.
Trip to olive oil producer, museum, and olive oil tasting.
Trip to small organic masseria property for cooking class:
orecchiette and bread/wood fired oven.
Dinner at masseria.
Return to inn.  Sleep!

In collaboration with GArber TRavel, osteria pane e salute’s Caleb Barber and Deirdre Heekin will lead two adventures in April and November.   Space is limited to ten people.  Please inquire for dates, itineraries, and pricing.
